This past weekend, the News-Press published a comprehensive piece highlighting the dangers of increasing density on Captiva.
“Planners, others worry more people will be in harm’s way with SWFL redevelopment after Ian” by Chad Gillis, paints the most complete picture we have seen about Timbers Resorts’ apparent intentions for our island.
Gillis included the following quote in his article that really hits home –
“For 30 years the county worked hard for its people not to die, and it failed miserably in this last hurricane,” said retired Lee County Smart Growth Director Wayne Daltry. “And now you want to increase the threat?”
The Lee County Commission is scheduled to vote on these amendments on Dec. 6 at 9:30 a.m. Be sure to mark your calendars and join us to voice your opposition!
Those of you who missed the hearing can watch it here on LeeTV.
